Girl Irish Dances At Wedding, Then Baby Brother Comes Running In To Steal The Show

I remember dancing up a storm every day when I was younger. There had to be no occasion, just some music and good company (that of my brother and cousins). We’d put on performances for an imaginary audience, pretending to be dancing stars in our living room.

Sometimes, though, we’d dance with more of a purpose. It’s tradition to do choreographed dances at a loved one’s wedding. So, when we found out that a wedding was just around the corner, our daily dancing session turned into a very serious matter of business — everyone was to bring their A-game and their best moves, we had a task at hand, and it was the wedding dance!

What’s a wedding without dancing? Whether it’s the couple’s first dance, grandpa doing the funky chicken or joining Aunt Lucy’s conga train, every wedding dance floor comes loaded with willing participants and dances people have practiced for weeks in advance.

Take this Irish wedding, for example. Friends and family are crowded on the floor, waiting for this 9-year-old girl to bust a move – and it doesn’t take her long. Blame it on traditional Irish folk music, because this is the kind of stuff that’s made to get you moving, regardless of age.
Watch as she steps on to the floor, and a gives it all she’s got, working the crowd who’s clapping and cheering her on. She gallops and jigs around in a circle, while baby brother plays it safe in the background, but mimics her every move. The little protégé is just as good as she is in his world off to the side. You can hear his onlookers in the background, “Oh look at Michael!”

The band continues to play the sprightly ballad, but only seconds later, one of the bandmates asks, “Who’s going to join her out there, come on!” to which the little boy eagerly runs beside big sis with a smile on his face while dancing in unison.

As if it wasn’t a family affair already, moments later, grandma bursts onto the scene and we hear a man yelling louder than an excited sports fan whose team just scored the winning goal during playoffs. Score one for grandma! Her impromptu guest appearance makes the crowd go wild, proving that all generations can get down and boogie at a wedding. The contagiously fun Irish music doesn’t hurt either!
